02    Museum

 

         

Indian Railways in general and Zonal Railway in particular have an interesting past and in order to have a glimpse of some of the historical aspects, certain exhibits have been collected and kept on display for the benefit of railway men, common people and tourists.  

 

 

 

 


03    Library

       

The Library is having approximately 10,378 Books, 22 Magazines & Periodicals and 9 News Papers are subscribed regularly.

 

In addition, there are around 10,000 Books of Tariffs     and Manuals in the Stores, which are issued coursewise to the trainees for reference and guidance.

 

 


04    Chart Gallery

 

To make the average railway men well conversant with social, cultural, geographical, historical and other developments of the mankind and our national heritage in particular, a Chart Gallery is provided in the Training Centre's Library.

 

 

 


05    Transportation Model Room

 

This is located in a spacious hall.  There are 23 stations incorporating single, double and quadruple line working with lower quadrant, MAUQ, and colour light signalling in Absolute/Automatic Block System.  Models of Non-interlocked, padlocked, key locked, modified non-interlocked, standards I,II and III stations are provided.  The track gauge is 4.45 cm and the track length in the Model Railway is about 10,100 feet.

The movement of the engine is controlled electrically on 12 volt DC through the centre rail fixed in between the track.

 

Life size working block instruments are provided for   running of trains under Absolute Block System of working.

 

Field Telephone (Electrified and Non-Electrified Sections), Emergency Train Lighting Box, Flasher Light, Blinker Light, Breathliser Equipment, Crank Handle and Guard's equipment are also provided in this Model Room.  The Model Room is also equipped with Panel Interlocking system.

 

 


06    Mechanical Model Room

 

 

It has working Models of AVB and Air Brake Systems.  An Air Brake Casnub bogie frame has also been recently provided.  It also has Working Model of Braking System of Coaches.  

 

 

 

 


07    Engineering Model Room

 

Engineering Model Room consisting of various Models and Charts covering various aspects of permanent way, works and bridge engineering is one of the most interesting Model Rooms.  This Model Room also has Hydraulic Track Jack, Hydraulic Sleeper Spacer, Toe Load measuring device, Hydraulic Double Action Trimmer etc.

 

 


08    Commercial Model Room

 

This contains the samples of packing of various type of commodities offered for transport in the railways, detailed exhibition of passenger tickets and passes, various minerals which are offered to railways for their transport, model of booking window, tickets, ticket tubes, weighing machine, dating machine, travelling cash safe, replica of wagon door illustrating correct securing by bolts, rivets dunnage and labelling, self printing ticket machines etc.etc.

 

 


09    Electrical Model Room

 

It shows the belt driven generation of electricity both for the lighting of coaches and charging coach batteries.  It also consists of various cut models of batteries used on Indian Railway for train lighting.  Details of electric wiring technique used while wiring the passenger coaches of different classes are also exhibited.  A separate room shows the models and scheme of general lighting of stations and colonies, development of lamps, dissected parts of various electrical instruments etc.  A working model of OHE Isolator Switch is also available to train operating staff.

30 LCD Projectors procured recently is proving to be more useful than anticipated.

13    Dispensary

 

The Dispensary provided in the campus is headed by a Sr.DMO, to look after the health and hygiene problems of trainees, staff and their family members.

15    Recreation Rooms (Three)

 

One Recreation Room with T.V., Reading and Indoor Games facilities is available in the Hostel No.2.  Another Recreation Room with T.V. and Indoor Games is available for officer trainees in Hostel No.1 & 6.  A separate TV has been kept in one room for ladies.

17    Messing Arrangements

 

The Mess is managed by the Mess Management Committee, having members from trainees, staff, trade union office bearers with all officers.  Wholesome food is arranged within the amount fixed for each trainee by the Head Quarter Office.  Various Sub-Committees are looking after the purchase, supervision, preparation etc.  All the 59 Mess workers are non-Railway workers.

 

 


18    Sports & Recreation Club

 

Games, Sports and other extra curricular activities are organised by the Committee consisting of trainees, staff and Officers.  This Centre has good facilities for various Games, both Indoor and Outdoor.  There is an Indoor Badminton Hall and a Gymnasium.  A Cine Club also functions under the aegis of Sports & Recreation Club, which arranges feature films in the Auditorium, besides educative films arranged through various State and Central Government sources.

Play Grounds/Courts for Cricket, Foot Ball, Hockey, Badminton, Tennis, Basket Ball, Volley Ball etc. are available in this Centre.  These facilities are available to various trainees, staff and their family members.

Competitive matches and various sports and cultural events are arranged by Sports & Recretarion Club on occasions like Railway Week, Centre's Annual Day, Republic Day, Independence Day, Children's Day etc.

 

 

 


19    Training Improvement Group

 

This forum provides all the Instructors a platform for discussing threadbare all the aspects of training.  It organises various activities like Seminars, Debates, Quiz contests, Extempore speeches, slogan/caption contests etc.  This forum also undertakes the review of the existing/new rules and suggests modifications wherever considered necessary with special emphasis on safety.  The entire syllabi for various training courses is reviewed by this forum only.  It immensely helps in clarifying various doubts and standardises teaching contents.

 

 


20    First Aid Training

 

First Aid Training is imparted to all the Initial and other trainees as prescribed.
