EXHIBITION OPEN AT PRAGATI MAIDAN RAILWAY STATION FROM 29.09.10
Indian Railways is the lead partner to the Commonwealth Games to be held in New Delhi from 3rd October 2010. To mark this event, Honâ??ble Minister for Railways, Mamata Banerjee, had flagged off an exhibition train called â??Commonwealth Expressâ?? from Safdarjung Railway Station on 24.6.10. This train was being run to spread awareness about the Games and for the inspiration of the youth. This exhibition train is finally coming back to Delhi after stopping at 45 stations all over the country. on its return, the train will be stationed at Pragati Maidan Railway Station from 29th Sep. to 14th October 2010 for the general public to view. The exhibition timings of the train are 10.00 hours to 20.00 hours.
The train consists of 11 Air Conditioned coaches, of which five coaches are dedicated to sports & the Commonwealth Games and six coaches carry exhibits displaying the latest developments in Information Technology. The sports coaches showcase the history of the Commonwealth Games, along with details of the venues where the various events will be held and the countries participating therein. The coaches displaying Information Technology narrate the story of IT & Communication Technology and how they touch our lives in a significant way.
The train has evoked a hearty response in all parts of the country and especially among the youth living in far off areas by showcasing the Commonwealth Games before the general public.
